Caretaker CM remains elusive
The second consultative session between Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and the Sindh Assembly Opposition Leader Rana Ansar, for a caretaker chief minister also remained inconclusive as they failed to reach a consensus.
The two leaders met on Saturday for the first time to pick a caretaker CM, but could not reach an agreement.
The CH House downplayed the "consultative session" and called it a "courtesy meeting".
They are scheduled to have a third meeting after consulting their respective party leader.
However, if they failed to reach a consensus by Monday, the matter will be referred to a parliamentary committee.
During the second consultative meeting on Sunday, the names for the caretaker chief minister were presented by both.
The discussion focused on consulting party leadership regarding the proposed names for the position.
After consultations with their respective party leaderships, both sides will convene for another meeting on Monday.
While addressing the media after the meeting, Ansar revealed that the consultation was taking long as both sides have their own bevy of choices for the caretaker CM.
However, she hopes that a consensus candidate would be announced by Monday.
She remarked that several names have been proposed by CM Shah, which will be presented before the senior leadership of the party for consideration.
Decisions will be made following these consultations, she added.
Ansar pointed out that while there is a possibility of consensus on one of the suggested names, in case an agreement is not reached by Monday, the matter will be referred to the parliamentary committee.
PPP leader Nasir Hussain Shah, while talking to the media, said that numerous names have been put forward for the high-profile position but consensus has not been reached yet.
He said that another meeting will be held on Monday, and until then, there's time for consultations, aiming to reach a consensus on a suitable name.
The names circulating within the media sphere for the caretaker CM in Sindh, include Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, former chief secretaries Mumtaz Ali Shah and Siddique Memon, former bureaucrats Shoaib Siddiqui and Younus Dagha.
PPP leader Nasir Hussain Shah said that several names have been proposed by CM and Ansar for the caretaker's position, but both sides could not reach agreement on one candidate.
He also expressed the hope that the caretaker CM would be unveiled on Monday.
