Celebrating Freedom!

There should be no looking back, and there is no time to pause

The nation celebrates its 76th Independence Day anniversary today with the resolve to achieve the objectives of freedom collectively and passionately. This it does in all resilience by overcoming its weaknesses, and vowing to get to the hallmark of building a welfare state. Indeed, this is what the founding fathers desired as they struggled against all odds to carve an independent state for the Muslims of the Indian Subcontinent. The intention was to secure the lives of its subjects on progressive lines, and that too without meddling in the fissures of race and religion, and by defeating sentiments of parochialism and otherness.

Seven decades down the line as the nation hoists its national high, and determines to scale new heights of successes, one should not forget the tenants and costs of freedom. This obviously invites a reiteration from all and sundry to stand fast and develop Pakistan on modern lines without any let or hindrance. This year the nation is at a typical crossroads. All it needs is political stability and economic prosperity, and that on sustainable lines. Enough of ad hocism and experiments in its national milieu! On this day, we all should recollect our synergies to recreate a narrative – based on pluralism, progress and positivity.

There is no dearth of human talent and natural resources. Coupled with this is a generous mosaic of geography with four seasons. And when it comes to sturdiness in resolve and determination, Pakistanis lead from the front. History is full of instances where after every tragedy and turbulence, the nation has registered new delights in its national life by virtue of its unflinching belief in oneness of the society. Today Pakistan demands strong institutions, and a political spectrum integrated to surpass the task of nationbuilding.

That is only possible by adhering to the rule of law and Constitution, defeating unscrupulous elements in our midst, and tapping the country’s geo-economics in an era of neo-multilateralism. There should be no looking back, and there is no time to pause. Cheers for Freedom!
