ISLAMABAD:

PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui has demanded of National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to trace his missing bill which was sent to the president for approval 14 months ago after being passed by both houses of parliament.

He made the demand in a letter to Ashraf.

Siddiqui stated that after his arrest in July 2019, he had decided that as per the requirements of the Constitution, administration should be completely separated from the judiciary.

The PML-N leader was handcuffed and taken into custody under the Tenancy Act and presented before a female assistant commissioner who sent him to Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand.

In the letter, Siddiqui maintained that after becoming a member of the Senate, he had prepared a bill to amend the criminal code to bring the 125-year-old law in line with the Constitution.

He said during the PTI government, the bill was presented in the upper house and was approved by the Senate Standing Committee on Interior Affairs.
He requested the speaker to issue orders to trace the missing bill.
