Bajaur suicide attack targets FC vehicle

In a separate event in Quetta, a hand grenade blast reverberated through the Joint Road area

BANNU/BAJAUR/QUETTA:

Five individuals sustained injuries in a suicide attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle within the Bajaur tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

In a separate and equally troubling incident, a police constable lost his life while fulfilling his duty of safeguarding polio vaccination teams in Bannu.

Police DSP Sattar Khan told The Express Tribune the targeted FC vehicle was ambushed in the Lar Khalozo vicinity of War Mamond tehsil.

Khan added that the vehicle endured partial damage due to the attack, resulting in minor injuries sustained by five FC personnel who were onboard.

Swift action was taken to transport all the wounded to a medical facility, where their condition has since stabilized. Authorities retrieved the remains of the suicide bomber for forensic examination.

DSP Sattar Khan conveyed, “While the FC vehicle was indeed the intended target, luckily the attack yielded minimal damage.” Nonetheless, the incident sowed seeds of apprehension and panic throughout the region. In yet another disconcerting occurrence, militants once again launched an assault on a police constable responsible for securing polio vaccination teams.

The incident happened in the Akhund Khel area of Bannu. The unfortunate constable, Kamran Khan, was on polio security duty during the third day of the vaccination campaign in Bannu.

In a separate event in Quetta, a hand grenade blast reverberated through the Joint Road area, leaving at least six individuals wounded.
