Buzdar, Bakhtiar among 22 expelled from PTI
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday cancelled the basic membership of 22 party leaders from South Punjab, including former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar and ex-federal minister Khusro Bakhtiar for violating the party policy.
These leaders have been warned of legal action in case they use the party’s name or their designation.
PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan issued a termination notice to them while immediately suspending their party membership.
A number of PTI stalwarts had bid adieu to the party after its alleged involvement in the riots that took place in the wake of party chief Imran Khan’s arrest by the paramilitary Rangers in a graft case from the Islamabad High Court premises on May 9.
In June, Buzdar had announced to quit politics while condemning the May 9 riots, whereas Bakhtiar had also resigned from the party positions.
