PAAPAM to attend auto show in Tehran
A delegation of high-level members from the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Manufacturers Association (PAAPAM) is preparing for an important visit to Tehran, Iran, following an exclusive invitation from the Iranian government. The delegation, comprised of 20 representatives, will embark on their journey to Tehran on August 13, 2023, led by former PAAPAM chairman Abdur Razzaq Gauhar and the current Chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Goods Council.
The focal point of the delegation’s visit will be the Tehran Auto Show, a prominent event attracting global attention from automobile enthusiasts and industry experts alike. During their three-day stay, the PAAPAM members will not only participate in the auto show but also engage with various industrial and business communities, as well as intellectuals, fostering invaluable opportunities for bilateral trade.
Chairman of the Pak Iran Business Council, Najamul Hassan Jawa will be accompanying the delegation, reinforcing the significance of this visit in strengthening the economic ties between Pakistan and Iran. The Pakistani mission in Tehran will facilitate the delegation, working tirelessly to create a conducive environment for bilateral trade.
One of the key members of the delegation, Senior Vice Chairman, PAAPAM, Usman Aslam Malik expressed his optimism regarding the potential of barter trade with neighbouring countries. He envisions this consortium, representing a third of the world’s population and including two veto powers, as a pathway to attain economic independence. Emphasising Pakistan’s strategic location, Malik is confident in the country’s capability to connect the consortium to the global economy.
The recent declaration of barter trade agreements between Pakistan, China, Iran, Russia, and Afghanistan has infused positive energy into the business fraternities of both Pakistan and Iran. This agreement gains further significance with the involvement of all major stakeholders of the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative. To formalise the trade, the governments have established a facility in the Veboc system. The move provides a much-needed boost to the trade missions of both nations, alleviating foreign exchange pressures and opening new avenues for growth.
The PAAPAM’s management recognises the immense potential for scaling up bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran. Recent visits by Iranian Consular General Mehran Mohdfar and Commercial Consular Mehmood Haji Yousfi Pur Yousaf to PAAPAM headquarters reflect the seriousness of their commitment to strengthen economic ties through barter trade, said a press statement.
The delegation will be coordinated and organized by PAAPAM’s Secretary-General, Ghulam Murtaza, and will include prominent members like Muhammad Nasim, Tanveer Hayat Mir, Umar Abdullah, and others, the statement noted.
