11 injured as gas leak blast brings down factory’s roof
A huge explosion shattered the tranquility of PNT Colony, Korangi, leaving in its wake a harrowing scene of destruction and distress.
The roof of a factory, situated within the remits of Korangi Industrial Area police station, came crashing down, due to a gas leakage incident, resulting in injuries to 11 workers.
The incident happened near Gate No. 1 of PNT Colony in Korangi No 1, where the factory now lay in ruins.
Amidst the debris, several labourers were trapped, their cries for help echoing through the air.
Police, fire brigade, and rescue teams arrived at the scene to save precious lives.
They successfully pulled out 11 labourers alive and whisked them away to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for the treatment of their injuries.
The injured labourers have been identified as Kamran, 18, Ali Dino, 20, Sajjad, 25, Iftikhar, 45, Abbas, 25, Shamshad, 20, Ghaffar, 23, Intizar, Piran, 18, Ashiq, and Abdul Qudoos, 35.
One of the labourers fought a precarious battle for life, his condition teetering on the edge of despair.
The ill-fated factory specialised in crafting bakery products. Among its workforce of 14, eleven bore the brunt of the devastating incident.
Rescue teams displayed valor, extricating each worker from the labyrinth of debris.
The clearing of the site, with the aid of heavy machinery, has already started.
Investigations carried out by police shed light on the tragic sequence of events.
A labourer endeavoured to brew a simple cup of tea within the factory’s confines.
Little did he know that a gas leakage lay in wait, igniting a catastrophic chain reaction. The ensuing explosion rent the air, triggering the collapse that ensnared the lives of the labourers.
Amidst the chaos, the factory owner, Hasnain, remained missing, as the authorities continued their quest for answers.
