Family on bike meets tragedy evading stray dogs
A woman and her daughter were killed when a motorcycle they were riding was crushed by a truck while maneuvering to evade a pack of stray dogs in Golimar, Pak Colony, on Sunday.
The victims, Nagina, 30, and her seven-year-old daughter, Armash, died on the spot, while the husband, Faizan, miraculously survived the devastating crash. Edhi volunteers transported the bodies to the Civil Hospital.
Abdul Khaliq Ansari, SHO Pak Colony police station, said that the responsible truck driver has been apprehended and the vehicle belonging to the KMC impounded.
The police handed over the mortal remains to the grieving family after medico-legal formalities.
As the bodies of the mother and daughter returned to their home in Jahanabad, Pak Colony, the neighbourhood was engulfed in an overwhelming sense of grief.
A multitude of sympathetic locals and relatives gathered to pay their final respects.
Distraught family members narrated the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. Faizan, accompanied by his wife and children, were on their way home after having breakfast at the renowned Bismillah Hotel.
In an attempt to avoid a pack of stray dogs perched along the roadside, Faizan steered the motorcycle.
The treacherous road conditions, riddled with potholes, conspired against them, causing the family to tumble.
Meanwhile, a KMC truck, reversing after completing its garbage collection, inadvertently crossed paths with the fallen mother and daughter, leading to their death.
Speculations arose regarding the truck driver’s alleged intoxication at the time of the calamity.
As the family mourns, Nagina leaves behind four children, with Armash being the eldest.
