Terror plot foiled, 10 arrested
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab foiled a major terror plot by arresting 10 suspected terrorists linked with a banned outfit during operations in different areas of Punjab on Friday.
A CTD spokesman said the department conducted 132 intelligence-based operations in different districts of the province, in which 134 suspects were interrogated and 10 terror suspects were arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.
The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Uzair, Adil, Hazrat Shiyan, Ramzan, Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Usman, Muhammad Asif, Muawiya, Osama and Abdul Rehman Ahmed. The spokesman added that they belong to banned organizations including the Tehreek Taliban Pakistan, Daesh, Sepah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, Lashkar Jhangvi and others.
The arrests were made during intelligence-based operations in Lahore, Attock, Sargodha, Gujranullah, Multan and DG Khan. Raid teams sezied 4 hand grenades, 1 IED bomb, 893 grams of explosives, 7 detonators, 11 feet of safety fuse wire, 2 30-bore pistols with 10 rounds of ammunition, 3 magazines, 73 pamphlets and 94 stickers from a banned organization, a map of Pir Adil's tomb in DG Khan, 2 mobile phones and Rs17,780 in cash from the possession of the suspects.
The spokesman alleged that the suspects had planned acts of sabotage across the province and wanted to target important installations, religious sites and foreign nationals.
