Four killed as car plunges into ditch
Four members of the same family died while three children sustained serious injuries when the private car driver lost control of the vehicle, plunging it into a ditch near Sirikot.
The bodies and the injured were rushed to the nearby Haripur Trauma Centre.
According to a police spokesperson, Atif Shah, an employee of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and a native of Singhar – a mountainous region on the outskirts of Sirikot – was travelling along with his family in a private van when he lost control over the vehicle at Plusar and it fell into a deep ravine, leaving Atif Shah, his wife Ruqayya Bibi, Zainab Bibi, 31, and three-year-old Ayan died on the spot while Muhammad Ali, 15, Abdullah, 8, and Obaid Shah sustained serious injuries.
As soon as the accident was reported, Ghazi Police DSP Muhammad Tahir Qureshi and SHO arrived on the spot and inspected the accident site, the spokesperson said.
He went on to add that the rescue operation was conducted with the help of locals who helped the police in fetching out the bodies and the injured before transferring them to the hospital.
The spokesperson said after completion of identification, post-mortem and other necessary proceedings, the bodies were handed over to the relatives of the deceased, who took them to their hometown.
