KOT ADDU:

Police registered a case against a man who allegedly recorded and uploaded nude videos and pictures of his ex-wife and used them to blackmail her.

Shafaq Jaffar registered a case against her ex-husband, Dr Malik Naeem Asif Dogar. She divorced him five years ago and moved to Kot Addu from Sultan city.

She alleged that Dogar called her and asked to meet, however when she refused, he reportedly threatened to kidnap and kill her. Additionally, he sent explicit photos and videos of Shafaq to her cousin, Amir Hamza and father, Mohammad Jaffar Tariq on his mobile phone.

Shafaq also accused her ex-husband of conniving with his brother, Sardar Malik Saleem Dogar, to steal money from her. Kot Addu Police Station registered case number 919/23 under the Telegraph Act.

The victim and her advocate Abubakkar Chaudhry alleged to the Express Tribune that Dr Dogar blackmails women by entrapping them and sexually abusing them.

She further alleged that he continued to film sexual assaults and stole as much as Rs2.5 million by blackmailing the women in these videos. Upon refusing to give up the money, he would add close relatives in WhatsApp group and send them the nude photos and videos.

Shafaq further alleged that her former brother-in-law, Sardar Malik Naeem Dogar, is an employee in the judiciary. She accused him of abusing his authority and sending a judicial officer to her home to harass her. According to the investigating officer Gulab Ali, raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.

Incidents like this, where women are blackmailed with explicit images of themselves for money, are frighteningly common in Punjab. In 2021, a man in Lahore reportedly extorted Rs40 million and 583 grams of gold from a woman after luring her to his house and filming explicit videos of her. She was reportedly lured to the house under the false pretext of a marriage proposal.

On December 2, 2021, the accused Ali Javed went to Lahore to collect Rs1 million from the woman.
