KARACHI:

Police have registered the case involving the heinous murder of a woman in the Darul Uloom Basti area of Korangi, within the jurisdiction of Awami Colony police station. The victim, a mother of three, was fatally shot by an unknown assailant.

According to the FIR, lodged by Gul Taj, the uncle of the deceased, the charge brought forth is of cold-blooded murder under Section 302 of the PPC.

In his statement to the police, Gul Taj, residing at House No 73, Moinabad No 2, Quaidabad, Landhi, revealed that the victim Samreen was the daughter of his elder brother Abdul Rahman. Samreen had three daughters from her previous marriage to Tariq, who gained custody of the children after their divorce. Consequently, Samreen filed a regular petition in court, resulting in an order that permitted her to meet her daughters at home three times a month.

The tragic loss of her daughters weighed heavily on Samreen, inflicting her with severe mental distress. To cope with her emotional struggles, she sought treatment from several hospitals. Periodically, her mental state caused her to disappear from home without notifying the family, prompting them to search for her and bring her back.

On the evening of July 23, 2023, Samreen left her house without a trace. Her family scoured the area, desperate to find her, but their efforts proved futile. The following day, Gul Taj's son, Murad Abbas, who serves in the police department, showed his father a distressing image on his mobile phone - a lifeless woman's body, her face marred by bullet wounds. In a heart-wrenching moment of recognition, both Gul Taj and his son identified the woman in the picture as Samreen. They rushed to Abdul Rahman's residence, where Samreen's sister, Aliya, wife of Arshad, also corroborated her identity.
