When Abhishek Bachchan was ‘slapped’ by a fan because she didn’t like his acting
In a recently resurfaced interview with the cast of Dhoom 3, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan revealed a shocking incident from his past involving a displeased fan. During the screening of his film Shararat in 2002, Abhishek experienced a moment he “would never forget” when a lady physically expressed her discontent by slapping him.
Speaking to E! Now, the son of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan recalled the unfortunate encounter. He said, "A lady came and expressed her displeasure physically of how she didn't like the film. She slapped me." The incident left him taken aback, as the fan went on to criticise his acting, suggesting he was embarrassing his father's illustrious name. “She said I should stop acting because I’m… something to the effect of that I’m embarrassing my father’s name,” he added.
The Bunty Aur Babli actor mentioned another moment when he returned to the same theatre during the release of Bol Bachchan the following year. “Those 10,000 people gathered outside, I got out of my car, took a photograph, and sent it to my dad. I said, ‘It’s amazing how life comes full circle.'”
The Reddit community was taken aback by this shocking revelation, expressing both shock and outrage over the fan's actions. Many users condemned the act because “disliking an actor's work does not justify resorting to physical violence.” A user commented, "That's so nasty and unethical. One can't just hit an actor for the sheer reason of not liking their work.”
Another user suggested that Abhishek should have taken legal action against the lady. "Did someone actually do that? How horrible! He should have sued the lady,” read a comment. The incident also sparked discussions about entitlement. "Why do people feel so entitled?" asked a user.
Despite the unfortunate incident, Abhishek did not give up on his acting career. The actor has several promising projects in the pipeline, including the film Ghoomer, where he serves as both actor and producer. Additionally, he has collaborations with renowned directors Remo D'Souza and Shoojit Sircar in the works. His recent projects, such as Breathe: Into The Shadows Season 2, Dasvi, and Bob Biswas, have been well-received by many.
