Bilawal celebrates day of twin victories
The top leadership of the country hailed Pakistan’s victories in two sports on the same day as Pakistan defeated India in the final of the Emerging Asia Cup and Hamza Khan made history by becoming the World Junior Squash Champion.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire nation for these historic victories in sports. "Great news in sports today,” Bilawal said.
“Pakistan lifted the trophy in the Emerging Asia Cup in cricket by defeating India, and young squash player Hamza Khan made history by becoming the World Junior Squash Champion," he added.
He said that after a long hiatus of four decades, Pakistan has emerged triumphant in the world squash scene as Hamza scripted his name in the annals of history by claiming the title of the World Junior Squash Champion.
The world of cricket also witnessed a remarkable achievement as Pakistan's Emerging Cricket Team clinched victory in the highly anticipated Asia Cup, the foreign minister noted.
He commended the remarkable performance of Pakistan's Emerging Cricket Team, praising their resilience and teamwork that ultimately led them to lift the coveted trophy.
President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised Pakistan cricket team for winning Emerging Asia Cup by convincingly defeating India in the final. “Yet another exciting news from the sports arena,” Shehbaz said in a tweet.
“This time it is our young cricketing heroes who downed India to win the crown of Emerging Asia Cup. This just goes to show how passionate & resolute our youth are,” he added. “Well done boys. Keep the flag high.”
In a tweet, President Dr Arif Alvi congratulated the Pakistan A cricket team on their remarkable triumph in the final of Emerging Asia Cup 2023 against India. “Thrilled. Brilliant & clinical,” Alvi said.

Earlier, in a separate tweet, President Dr Arif Alvi praised Hamza Khan for winning the World Junior Squash title. “Pakistan had an unprecedented and yet unmatched supremacy in squash,” he said. “I had personally watched many finals among our giants. After a long time, a resurgent ray of hope. Well done.”
