We are public figures, not properties: Romaisa Khan slams 'unethical' treatment at hospital
Popular TikTok star-turned-actor, Romaisa Khan, recently shared a distressing experience she encountered at a hospital, shedding light on the absurd treatment public figures sometimes face. In a heartfelt post on Threads, Khan expressed her disappointment and frustration over the insensitivity displayed by some individuals during a vulnerable moment in her life.
In her emotional post, Khan revealed that her mother was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and was in immense pain, fighting for her life. In this deeply personal and distressing situation, Khan found herself outside the ICU, crying and praying for her mother's well-being. However, instead of receiving support and empathy from the hospital staff, she was subjected to an unsettling and unethical ordeal.
The TikTok star lamented that some individuals failed to recognise the boundaries of privacy and treated her as if she were public property rather than a human being experiencing a personal crisis. In a shocking revelation, Khan disclosed that nurses at the hospital were making videos of her and even asked her for a selfie while her mother was battling for her life inside the ICU. This blatant lack of empathy and disregard for her emotional state left her feeling violated and deeply hurt.
"Some people are so insensitive," penned the starlet on Threads. "I know we are public figures, but not public properties. It's so unethical that my mom is in [the] ICU screaming in pain almost fighting for her life and where I am crying and praying outside, [the] nurses are literally making my videos and asking me for a selfie. Event or in malls, most welcome, but in such sensitive situations, please learn how to act." As an update about her mother's health, Khan added, "Just by the way, thanks to everyone for all the love and prayers, she's doing better."
Unfortunately, the ordeal did not end there. A commenter on the post made an even more insensitive remark, suggesting that Khan should not "spoil someone's happy moment." "Listen, you are an artist and you can't change this, okay?" said the Threads user. "And even if your mom is not in ICU, even she would suggest to you that you must not spoil someone's happy moment. Who knows, those to whom you give your time, perhaps their prayers work on your mother. Be positive and may your mom have a speedy recovery." In response to the comment, Khan simply wrote, "Wow, what more do I say?"
Khan's heart-wrenching account sheds light on the importance of respecting the privacy and emotions of public figures, especially during vulnerable moments. It serves as a reminder that behind the glamorous facade of fame, public figures are human beings with feelings and emotions that deserve consideration and compassion.
