Man chops off wife’s nose in the name of 'honour'

A man, aided by his brothers, callously chopped off the nose of his wife in a chilling honour crime and scant regard for law in the Manghopir area of the metropolitan city. The tormentor, identified as Ismail, was subsequently arrested as police immediately registered the case on the complaint of the woman's father.

According to the harrowing account narrated by the complainant, he received a distressing call from his daughter Zahida's brother-in-law, telling him the news of the gruesome assault. Allegedly, Zahida's husband, Ismail, and his brother, Luqman, viciously attacked her, while another brother carried out the abhorrent act, severing her nose with a cold, glinting knife.

The perpetrators, driven by a warped sense of misguided honour, accused her of engaging in extramarital relations with another man, named Ayub. They turned a deaf ear to Zahida's desperate pleas, committing this barbaric act without a shred of remorse.

Adding insult to injury, Luqman wrapped the severed part of Zahida's nose in paper and handed it over to her father before escaping the scene. Police registered a case against the husband and his brothers based on the statement of Zahida's father, leading to the prompt apprehension of Ismail. Police are now conducting raids to track down and bring to justice the other accused involved in this heinous crime.

This heinous act stands as a testament to the urgent need to confront and eradicate the deeply entrenched issue of honour-based violence from the society. Such savagery must be met with the full force of the law to ensure a resolute stance against such atrocities and to deliver justice for the victims, who endure unimaginable suffering at the hands of their own kin.
