DIJKOT:

A woman and a milk seller were in separate incidents on Saturday, reportedly due to old enmities.

The police seized the bodies and shifted them to hospital for post-mortem, while the deceased woman’s relatives blocked the Dijkot road and protested against the police, demanding the arrest of the murderers.

According to the polices, 32-year-old Ali Raza went to deliver milk in Malikhlanwala when Shehbaz and others allegedly shot him in order to avenge an old enmity. The suspects mortally wounded Raza, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Allied Hospital for a post-mortem. They also launched a search for the attackers.

In the second incident, Shakeel Anjum, Ali Sher, Abdul Rahman, Shehzad and others allegedly shot dead 50-year-old Naseem Bibi.

The shooting was reportedly carried out in retaliation for the victim filing a case against the suspects in the Sumundri Road area.

The victim was shifted to a hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds.

When the police handed her body over to her heirs, they blocked the Dijkot road, protesting against the lack of arrest of the suspected killers.

The Dijkot SHO reached the scene and negotiated with the victim’s relatives, assuring them of the prompt arrest of the suspects. The protesters soon dispersed and the police launched an operation to arrest the suspects.

Killings over long-standing disputes or enmity are a frequent occurrence across the province. In April last year, four people were killed in Khurrianwala when unidentified people in a car opened fire on them and escaped. Police identified the victims as 40-year-old Dildar, 24-year-old Khalid, 35-year-old Rana Shakeel and 30-year-old Qamar Bhatti.

They were sitting outside an estate agency near Sheikhupura road when the assailants fired on them from a car. Dildar and Khalid died on the spot, while Rescue 1122 personnel shifted Shakeel and Qamar to a hospital in critical condition, where they succumbed to their injuries.

According to the police, the victims were killed due to an old enmity. Regional Police Officer Imran Mehmood sought a report from the CPO regarding the killing.
