Reddit communities move to Discord after protests
Reddit protests have persisted through despite company threats to takeover subreddits. The company managed to carry out its threats on one of the biggest subreddit, r/malefashionadvice with five million users, which backfired on the company.
Moderators initially gave in to the threats by going public, but then later made itself private again, because of the impact on disabled moderators who had been relying on the accessibility features of third-party apps. The group argued that third-party apps like Apollo, RIF, Boost, and Sync had better accessibility tools than other apps Reddit has permitted.

Reddit issued a warning to moderators to end their protests in less than a week or be removed. Three former moderators were then removed by the company, The Verge reported. Currently, the community’s modlist currently has just one moderator: ModCodeofConduct.
Though the company is trying to replace removed moderators, the move hasn't been well received by the Reddit Community. Communities like r/malefashionadvice are urging their followers to switch to their Discord channel. Around 5,000 prolific users have already moved from Reddit, former moderators reported, hoping the number would increase soon.
