Section 144 imposed in Islamabad
The district administration has imposed a ban on pillion riding for the next ten days in the federal capital for Muharram security.
According to an official notification, the use of drone cameras has also been prohibited for a period of two months under Section 144.
The decision was outlined in a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon. He emphasised that the ban on pillion riding aims to prevent potential acts of violence and disturbance of peace that some motorcycle riders may commit during Muharram.
Under Section 144, strict action will be taken against those who violate the ban. DC Nawaz Memon called upon all assistant commissioners, magistrates, and Islamabad police to ensure compliance with the notification and its instructions.
Similarly, the prohibition of drone cameras within Islamabad seeks to uphold public safety and maintain law and order, particularly in the vicinity of sensitive installations, the official notice said. The ban on drone camera usage will be in effect from today (July 21) for the next two months.
