Though the government leaves no opportunity to hike taxes and impose new levies on citizens it continues to provide basic amenities and in instant case a working sewerage system.

A scattered rain on Friday washed away cosmetic claims of authorities, leaving the roads inundated in central district.

The erratic showers brought heavy to light falls in some areas, while many remained dry and sunny.

Monsoon system coming from Bay of Bengal caused heavy rains in many parts of the city. Light to moderate rainfall occurred in some areas of the city. North Karachi recorded the highest rainfall of 41.6 mm.

The recent monsoon rains in the city may continue intermittently till July 24. The weather was very hot and humid in the city before the rain. The temperature was recorded at 37.1 degrees Celsius with an increase of 1.1 degrees compared to the previous day.

Scattered showers started in different parts of the city after noon on Friday. In the suburbs of the city including Gulshan Mimar, Motorway M-9, Gadap Town, Superhighway and Gulshan Mimar, Federal B Area, Shafiq Mor, Scheme 33 received light to moderate rain while there was heavy rain in New Karachi, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Powerhouse Chowrangi due to which a situation like urban flooding has arisen in the above mentioned areas.

Many roads were inundated and there was traffic jam in several areas of the Central district.

There was only drizzle in some places of the city. However black clouds covered most of the areas.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday predicted thundershower for most parts of Sindh, including Karachi during the next 24 hours.

The rain wind or thundershower is forecast for Karachi, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Mithi, Padidan, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirbabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Thatta and Badin.

The maximum temperature in Karachi was 35-37 degrees Celsius, Hyderabad 35-37 degrees Celsius, Sukkur 38-40 degrees Celsius, Thatta 34-36 degrees Celsius, Mohenjodaro 35-37 degrees Celsius,Dadu 39-41 degrees Celsius, Mithi 36-38 degrees Celsius, and in Nawabshah 36-38 degrees Celsius.
