Would’ve charged more money if I had known ‘Meray Paas Tum Ho’ would be a hit: Adnan Siddiqui
Actor Adnan Siddiqui apparently regrets not taking enough money for his role in the blockbuster drama Meray Paas Tum Ho. Written by Khalilur Rehman Qamar, the drama starred Siddiqui alongside Ayeza Khan and Humayun Saeed. The actor shared that he did not expect the drama to become such a fan-favourite and credited the whole team for its success.
Siddiqui made a guest appearance on Junaid Akram’s podcast and spoke about how the 2019 drama rocket launched the careers of those involved. Talking about whether he was expecting the hype and fame that Meray Paas Tum Ho brought for everyone, Siddiqui humbly denied the assertion.
“For me, it was like an old engine, which has travelled a lot, was replaced with a new one. I took great advantage of it, too, whether it be shows, commercials or even tours. My fans appreciated it a lot too,” he said. However, that being said, Siddiqui playfully added that he would’ve charged way more if he had known about the success rate beforehand.
“If I knew how successful it would be, I wouldn't have charged the money that I did. I would've taken a lot more. For the first time ever, Humayun asked me to play a role that he had in mind, and he was right. It was very big of him to suggest that. He told me that people had already cast me for it from like 6 years ago. Like, they had my name in mind,” he shared.
“But I definitely didn't know that it'd get so big. The credit goes to Nadeem (Baig), Humayun and, of course, the writing and direction. Then Humayun and Ayeza were brilliant. I also shone through in it somewhere,” the actor concluded.
Earlier on The Mirza Malik Show, the Mom actor credited all his popularity to the show's success. "I feel like that drama impacted my whole career," he revealed. "I was even told that although the script was finalised at least six years ago, they had my name in mind from the start. I've received so much recognition for a character that people believed to be the villain. I wasn't a villain, but a man who didn't lie to the woman in his life and was completely honest with her. But yes, that role did wonders for me."
