QUETTA:

The Balochistan government and Google have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer 1,000 scholarships to students from the province. A ceremony was held at the Chief Minister Secretariat to commemorate this collaboration.

Earlier this year, Google had announced its commitment to providing 1,000 scholarships to students in Balochistan. However, the formal MoU was signed in the presence of Balochistan’s Minister for Finance, Zamarak Khan Achakzai, Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili, and Secretary of Information, Hamza Shafqaat.

Representatives from both parties, including Tayyab Lehri, Secretary of Information Technology Balochistan, and Omar Farooq, the Google team leader, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

The objective of this initiative is to equip the youth with the skills necessary to secure online jobs in the modern age. The agreement signifies the collaboration between the Balochistan government and Google to provide scholarships and internships to the youth of Balochistan.

The Chief Secretary of Balochistan expressed his appreciation for the agreement, highlighting its significance for the province.

The Chief Minister is dedicated to offering meaningful employment opportunities to the youth of Balochistan. In May of this year, Google had already awarded 1,000 scholarships to Balochistan’s youth, with over 900 students currently enrolled in the program.

Regarding the details of the agreement, Muhammad Hamza Shafaqat, the Information Secretary, stated that an additional 2,000 scholarships would be granted by Google. The scholarships include opportunities for both girls and boys.
