Microsoft to equip US army with improved HoloLens combat goggles
Microsoft is delivering IVAS (Integrated Visual Augmentation System) 1.2 devices to the US military before the end of July.
Microsoft is conducting a new round of testing on its HoloLens combat goggles with the US military to improve their performance and make them feel more comfortable. The new devices are comparatively lighter, slimmer, and better balanced.
With the help of the new devices, the soldiers will have improved battlefield awareness, access to vital health stats, night vision capabilities, better coordination for assaults, and warnings for signs of injury or fatigue.
According to Bloomberg reports, two army squads will be testing 20 prototypes of IVAS by the end of August.
Previously, soldiers complained of headaches, nausea, eye strain, and discomfort due to the design of the goggles.
