PMD warns of more rains from July 20-21

Says Sindh to witness dust-thunderstorm/rain

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday warned that heavy rains might cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Lahore and Dera Ghazi Khan from July 20-22.

The heavy rain might also trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and hilly areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the period.

According to the PMD forecast, rain-wind/thundershower was expected in Kashmir, Potohar region, Islamabad, Punjab, northeast and south Balochistan, K-P and Sindh during the next 24 hours.

The heavy rains were also likely at isolated places in Kashmir, northeast/south Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad and upper K-P during the forecast period.

In Islamabad, rain-wind/thundershower was expected in Islamabad with chances of heavy falls during the period.

In K-P, rain-wind/thundershower was expected in Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohistan, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Chitral, Kurrum, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Dera IsmaiI Khan, Bannu, Karak and Waziristan.

Heavy falls were also expected in Balakot, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Swat, Kalam, Dir, Peshawar, Mardan and Swabi.

In Punjab, rain-wind/thundershower was expected in Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Mianwali, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

Heavy falls were also expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Murree, Galiyat, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan and Rahim Yar Khan during the period.

In Balochistan, hot and humid weather was expected in most parts of the province.

Rain-wind/thundershower was expected at isolated places in Kohlu, Zhob, Musa Khel, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Kalat, Sibi, Barkhan, Loralai, Naseerabad, Dera Bugti, Lasbela and Awaran.

In Sindh, dust-thunderstorm/rain was expected in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Mithi, Padidan, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin and Karachi.

Heavy falls might occur at few places in Tharparkar during the period.

In Kashmir or G-B, cloudy weather with rain-wind/thundershower was expected. Isolated heavy falls were likely to occur in Kashmir during the period. Partly cloudy weather with rain was expected in G-B. During the last 24 hours, rain-wind/thundershower with few heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, Potohar region, Punjab, K-P and Kashmir.

The weather remained hot and humid in other parts of the country.

The rainfall recorded in Rawalpindi was Shamsabad 195mm, Chaklala 136mm, Kacheri 91mm and Chakwal 154mm; Islamabad’s Bokra 145mm, Golra 112mm, Zeropoint 106mm, Airport 77mm, Saidpur 51mm; Sialkot – City 107mm, Airport 41mm; Jhelum 100mm, Mangla 99mm, Lahore’s Tajpura 90mm, Airport 59mm, Nishtar Town 55mm, Upper Mall 51mm, Lakshmi Chowk 44mm, Gulberg 32mm, Johar Town 30mm, City 23mm, Qurtaba Chowk 22mm, Gulshan-e-Ravi 19mm, Samanabad 18mm, Mughalpura 10mm, Chowk Nakhuda 7mm, Farrukhabad 6mm, Shahi Qila 1mm, Murree 64mm, Gujrat 56mm, Mandi Bahauddin 54mm, Gujranwala 21mm, Sargodha 13mm, Attock 8mm, Multan City 7mm, Narowal 6mm; Bahawalpur’s Airport 4mm, City 1mm; Joharabad’s Kot Addu 2mm; Dera Ghazi Khan 1mm; K-P – Balakot 86mm, Mardan 36mm, Malam Jabba 32mm, Kakul 16mm; Saidu Sharif’s Dir 4mm, Cherat 1mm; Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad 68mm, City 54mm, Rawalakot 60mm, Kotli 44mm and Garhidupatta 12mm.
