KARACHI:

Despite 15 days of extensive police efforts, the suspect who took off his shorts to harass a woman in public on a street in Gulistan-e-Johar remains at large. The police have admitted that the inquiry has not made significant progress thus far.

During this period, the authorities monitored 400 cameras, searched 300 homes, and combed operations in the slums of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Aziz Bhatti, and Gulistan-e-Johar. While 40 individuals were apprehended during the investigation, they were released after questioning.

Gulshan-e-Iqbal DSP Sohail Khan expressed his bewilderment at the victim’s reluctance to come forward and the lack of cooperation from locals, which has impeded the progress of the inquiry.

It is important to note that on July 3, a motorbike rider entered the Gulistan-e-Johar area and attempted to molest a woman in front of a CCTV camera after removing his shorts. The woman bravely defended herself by striking him with a bag, causing the culprit to flee on his bike after wearing shorts.
