The tranquil settlement of New Murree Charian was plunged into chaos late Sunday night as a fearsome leopard, locally known as 'Cheetah,' went on a rampage, terrorising the locals and attacking livestock.
Residents were caught off-guard when the leopard broke into the cattle pens at the residence of Raja Javed Kethwal. The wild animal killed and feasted on three goats while the rest of the herd managed to escape.
According to the locals, the leopard sought refuge in a nearby tree, while the family of Kethwal ventured outside to search for their missing goats. Some bystanders recorded videos of the menacing leopard during the tense encounter.
Expressing their concerns about potential life-threatening incidents, the locals have raised alarm over the perceived inaction of the wildlife department.
