You should not be so self-centred: Badshah opens up on rift with Honey Singh

In a recent interview with Raj Shamani, rapper-singer Badshah candidly discussed his strained relationship with fellow artist Yo Yo Honey Singh during their time together in the band, Mafia Mundeer. According to Hindustan Times, Badshah revealed that Honey displayed a "self-centred attitude" and would frequently ignore his calls. Reflecting on those challenging years, Badshah stated that the experience had a transformative effect on him.

During the interview, Badshah finally addressed his rift with Honey. "Mafia Mundeer was a thought, and like-minded people got together. Primarily, it was just me and Honey. In 2009, there was a break between me and Honey," recalled the Tareefan rapper.

Continuing further, Badshah said, "I used to do a job and I was very scared. Honey was also off my radar and when I tried calling him, he dodged my calls. But till the time we were in Mafia Mundeer, we never met. If we had met, maybe things would have been different."

Shedding further light on the Sunny Sunny rapper, Badshah added in the podcast, "We made songs but they were not released. Honey was just concentrating on his career. I was associated with Mafia Mundeer since 2006, and by 2009, my parents were very worried about me. In 2011, my first song with Honey came out: Get Up Jawani."

Seemingly addressing Honey directly, Badshah said, "We are also creating so many songs, please consider us as well. We have left everything behind and come here. You (Honey) should not be so self-centred. On the one hand, you call us brothers, but on the other, you fail to acknowledge our struggles. He made us sign blank papers; what about those contracts? It was a tough phase."

During the conversation, Badshah also hinted at working on a new album. He expressed excitement about sharing some single tracks with his fans. Earlier this year, Badshah issued an apology after facing objections from listeners regarding the lyrics of his song Sanak.

Mafia Mundeer, a collective that delivered numerous hit songs such as Gabru, Haye Mera Dil, Glassi, Get Up Jawani, and Siftaan, saw its last performance in 2012. Aside from Honey and Badshah, the band consisted of Raftaar, Ikka, and Lil' Golu. The revelations made by Badshah in the interview shed light on the inner dynamics and challenges faced within Mafia Mundeer, providing a glimpse into the personal and professional conflicts between the artists.
