Three mega public projects approved

Land records, police stations data will be computerised

The government has approved funds for three mega public projects in the new financial year.

Under the first mega project, all land records will be computerised in the Department of Finance and Union Councils. The people will be able to get the details of their lands record at the threshold of their homes. The estimated cost of this project is Rs1.73 billion.

In this project, all patwaris, gardawars, deputy tehsildars will also be given computer training. After the completion of the project, land record services will be available to the public from the offices at their constituency level.

This project will be completed in a couple of phases in two years. At present, this facility is available only up to the district level. With this project, this facility will be available in every circle up to the law office of the finance department.

While under the second mega project, all police stations across Punjab will be made fully computerised.

The complete data of every arrested, bailed, convicted, and acquitted accused will be available online in police stations across Punjab with just one click of a computer. With this data, the arrest of an accused and absconding accused will also become very easy.

The estimated cost of this project will be 366.17 million.

At present, computer services are available in all the police stations of Punjab, but now they will be upgraded and interlinked to all police stations and offices of police officers. Under this facility, the data of stolen vehicles and motorcycles from any city will also be available.

While under the third mega project, the government has decided to collect the fees and dues of all its service institutions online. Every organisation will have a modern online system.

This project is being launched under the supervision of the Punjab Ministry of Finance in the new financial year. With the completion of this project, every citizen will be able to submit fees, bill payments, all types of dues online in any provincial institution.

Buildings of UCs

The Ministry of Local Government has approved the project of buildings for the union councils. The objective of this project is to transfer the union council’s offices from rented buildings to government buildings.

The project will be completed under the annual development programme.

The total cost of this project is Rs538.7 million. The Punjab government already released the fund after including it in the new development programme.

According to the local government Ministry, offices of all union councils will be established on government land and no land will be acquired from the private sector.

According to the local government Rawalpindi deputy director, there will be monitoring of everything including the government programmes of vaccination of children in offices of union councils. The work on these offices will be completed in a year, he said, adding that there would be a separate office of the secretary union council while there will be offices of the chairman union council, vice chairman and meeting hall also.
