Kuch Ankahi, the Nadeem Baig directorial that brought together a star-studded cast, ended with a range of emotions and a wholesome happy ending for all on Saturday. Salman (Bilal Abbas Khan) and Aaliya (Sajal Aly) got engaged, Asfar (Sheheryar Munawar) stood out as a hero for his selfless sacrifice, and Samiya (Mira Sethi) and Sofia (Vaneeza Ahmed) found peace within their families – one that they yearned for since the start of the family drama.

The finale of Kuch Ankahi, written by Muhammad Ahmed, warmed the hearts of fans that followed the Agha family for the past six months. Elated, they took to Twitter to discuss and celebrate the much-needed “upgrade” to Pakistani television. It is safe to say that the theme song Dildara, sung by Azaan Sami Khan, was a cherry on top in the last few minutes of the drama.

Kuch Ankahi is a huge upgrade to Pakistani TV! No glamorous houses, no conniving saas (mother-in-law), evil puphos, or crying bahus (daughter-in-laws). They didn’t even have any confused cheating men. Kuch Ankahi is a huge step away from the horrible TV content that we have! If you want quality content - watch this show!” read a tweet.

Team Asfar, unite!

Despite being on the losing end of the love triangle, Asfar managed to create a soft space for himself in the hearts of Kuch Ankahi fans. Aaliya and Asfar’s last heartfelt conversation before she goes to Salman was enough closure for viewers. “Yes, team Asfar lost but they got this scene, so did they really lose?” read a tweet.

Another read, “POV: you love her enough to let her go. His side of the story will always hurt.”

The love triangle and the last wedding sequence reminded a fan of Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kajol’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. “different scenes, same energy,” read the tweet. https://twitter.com/phirleayadil_/status/1680281978212581376?s=20

A tweep praised the writing, especially for successfully creating grey characters that do not end up as villains for their choices. “Asfar didn't get Aaliya but he got his family back, which is such a beautiful way for his story to wrap up. He went from someone I didn't like in the beginning to actually being fond of him and not being aversive to Aaliya. Exceptional writing!” read the tweet.

“Thank you Kuch Ankahi for giving us a well-written love triangle with the prettiest faces,” wrote a fan. “Here’s to a drama where there's no villain!”

Salman and Aaliya – ‘made for each other’

The last scene between Sajal and Bilal was unanimously the favourite scene for everyone watching the drama. “Literally the most prettiest couple to exist. I am not getting over this scene anytime soon,” wrote a user.

Another user remarked, “Kuch Ankahi ended on a lovely note. Loved how everyone danced to one of the best songs of the season, Dildara. The loose ends were tied, and the scenes between Vaneeza and Babar Ali were also so beautiful; wish it had come to this point much earlier.”

They added, “The last few scenes of Sheheryar Munawar also made you feel for the rich heartbroken arrogant man. I wish the story had been more about these three than other stories. Loved the interactions between Irsaa Ghazal and Asma Abbas’ characters because Irsa’s and Mira’s characters have learnt so much. Both have come to terms with their circumstances in the best possible way. As I keep harping. Really want to see Bilal and Sajal in a series together soon!”

Another user said they want more romantic dramas by Baig soon.

A user also lauded the makers for bringing a former supermodel and a veteran star together on screen to give space to a “mature middle-aged romance.” They wrote, “My favourite part about Kuch Ankahi was Sophia Phupho and Thanvi [played by Babar Ali] uncle. Not only did it give a former supermodel and a former film superstar a chance to shine again, but we, as viewers, also got lucky to experience a beautifully done, mature middle-age romance.”

The conclusion of Kuch Ankahi has undoubtedly left a void in the hearts of its dedicated viewers, who expressed their gratitude for the memorable journey the drama provided every Saturday. Fans eagerly await the next project that brings together Bilal and Sajal, wishing to see their chemistry on screen once again.
