PM Shehbaz visits Jehangir Tareen, condoles over brother's demise

PM arrived at IPP chief’s residence to express condolences on demise of Alamgir Khan Tareen, who passed away last week

In a display of empathy and political solidarity, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday paid a visit to the residence of Jehangir Tareen, the head of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), to condole over the recent demise of his brother.

The visit was spurred by the unfortunate demise of Alamgir Khan Tareen, who was also the owner of the popular Pakistan Cricket League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans.

The Prime Minister was seen expressing his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and reciting Fatiha.

According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s office, Shehbaz conveyed his deep sympathies to Tareen and his family during this difficult time. As a gesture of respect for the deceased, he prayed for the elevation of the late Alamgir Tareen's rank in the hereafter, and asked for divine strength and patience for the mourning family.

Alamgir Khan Tareen committed suicide in Lahore last Thursday. According to reports, the Multan Sultans CEO shot himself. The news of his demise was confirmed by the management of his PSL team.

"It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved team owner, Alamgir Khan Tareen. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Tareen’s family. We request you all to kindly respect his family’s privacy," Multan Sultans had stated in a tweet.

Police officials said that Alamgir had left a note in which he mentioned some illnesses that he was suffering from. The 63-year-old was engaged and set to be married in December.
