‘Notorious’ criminal killed in encounter

Police said the suspect was a dreaded figure in the locality and was involved in over 50 criminal cases

A suspected robber was killed in a police encounter in Nawab Town on Thursday.

Reportedly, the suspected robbers were fleeing after conducting a robbery bid at Abdul Sattar Edhi Road. A police team on information followed and signalled to stop them. However, they instead resorted to firing.

In exchange of firing, a suspected robber was killed. He has been identified as Shabir alias Shabira.

Police said the suspect was a dreaded figure in the locality and was involved in over 50 criminal cases.

A high-level inquiry committee has been formed after negligence was highlighted by police in investigations of kidnapping of a four year old child from South Cantonment. Reportedly, a woman suspect identified as Uzma had kidnapped a four year old child. She had boarded a rickshaw to travel with the child.

The suspected rickshaw driver had taken the victim to Chamra Mandi and gang-raped her with his friend.

Uzma later boarded a train and reached Rawalpindi. Police sent her to a shelter home after taking her custody. The pictures of the victim child were uploaded matched with the details shared by Lahore police on website. A Lahore police team reached Rawalpindi, recovered the child and sent Uzma on judicial remand without conducting her medical examination.
