Police Special Branch needs over Rs256m for new wheels, guns
The intelligence wing of the police, Special Branch, is in for uplift with administrative measures besides new vehicles and upgraded weaponry.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the reorganization measures of Special Branch Sindh.
Special Branch requires Rs256.577 million for the purchase of new vehicles and around 1,500 9mm pistols said Additional IG Special Branch Khadim Hussain Rind and DIG Special Branch Ijaz Ahmed Sheikh during a briefing on purchase of equipment for the new fiscal year.
In the past fiscal of 2022- 23, X-ray machine bomb locator/mine detector, explosive/detectors, voice recorder, sneak cameras and other things were procured, they said.
In the same year, CM had released Rs146 million for Special Branch for the procurement of plant and Rs846 million for the purchase of transport.
From these funds issued for transport 548 motorcycles, 37 Toyota mobiles, 13 vans, six Revo, seven Hi- Lux, and a Shehzor truck etc were purchased.
