28 MQM-L workers arrested, 90 booked for taking out rally

KARACHI:

The crackdown against the banned Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) workers continued on Monday after they took out a rally in Korangi on Sunday.

Police have arrested 28 activists of the MQM wing loyal to its ousted founder.

A case was registered at the Zaman Town police station after MQM-London took out a rally in the Korangi district in support of MQM founder on Sunday night.

At least 39 known and 50 unidentified people were nominated in the case registered under various provisions including rioting. Police earlier arrested four people, Muhammad Ali, Sajid, Javed, and Saleem and by evening the count of detained activists had reached 28.

According to the text of the FIR filed on behalf of the state, around 80 to 90 people on motorcycles and vehicles blocked the road near the Korangi Crossing main bus stop.

They were chanting slogans in support of the MQM founder.

When police tried to disperse them they became violent on which four persons were arrested while others went away in the form of a rally shouting slogans.

As per police, the rally was taken out on the behalf of the founder of MQM London.
