KARACHI:

A woman travelling in an online taxi and its driver died, while the other male passenger sustained severe injuries in a road accident near Creek Mart in DHA Phase VIII.

Reportedly, the silver-coloured speeding taxi overturned after the driver lost control. Due to the intensity of the incident, the car was badly damaged. Consequently, the driver, Ali Raza, 30, and the female passenger, Sheena, 25, died on the spot.

The injured passenger, Zohaib, 40, was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical assistance. Police stated that the deceased driver, Ali Raza, was a resident of Bukhari Commercial area, DHA. Zohaib is currently receiving medical treatment at JPMC, and his statement will be recorded soon after his treatment, according to the police. They added that the accident appeared to be the result of high speeding. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

Meanwhile, a teenager died in a car crash near Cattle Colony Road No9 in the limits of the Sukhan Police Station. The body was brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities and identified as Jameel, 17.
