Man arrested for beating friend to death

Suspect had taken Rs530 from victim’s pocket

KURIANWALA:

Police claimed to have cracked the mystery of a body found in a dirty drain in the area of Ghulam Muhammadabad four days ago.

The police also claimed to have arrested the suspect. The arrested suspect, known as "Tiger," allegedly killed a friend during a minor argument and threw him into a dirty drain. He falsely accused the police of wrongdoing.

Four days ago, in the neighbourhood of Naseerabad Rajaywala in Ghulam Muhammadabad police station, Atiq, was riding a motorcycle when personnel from the Eagle Squad at the Eagle Square Police Station, including Maqsood and others, attempted to stop and search him.

Atiq managed to flee at the time, while Usman, also known as Tiger, attempted to escape when the police conducted the search. During this time, when the police took Atiq's motorcycle with them, Usman, alias Tiger, pretended to assault Atiq, hitting his head against the wall and rendering him unconscious.

Then, he kicked him in the groin, causing him to lose consciousness. Afterward, he threw him into the dirty drain. On the next day, when Atiq's body was found, his family members lodged a complaint against the personnel of the Eagle Squad at Ghulam Muhammadabad Police Station, accusing them of his murder.

A case was registered, and senior officers subsequently arrested both personnel.

SHO Ghulam Muhammadabad Inspector Asim Rashid and SI Intiaz Jappa, in charge of the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS), led a police party to various locations, arresting Atiq's friend, Usman, alias Tiger, and interrogating him. During the investigation, the accused Usman, alias Tiger, revealed that Atiq was trying to get him caught by the police.

“This led to an argument between us, and after taking out Rs530 from his pocket, I pushed him into the dirty drain, causing his death.”
