Elahi seeks details of inquiries and FIRs against him

Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafiq has sought replies from the NAB, anti-corruption, FIA and Punjab Police in a petition filed by PTI President and former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi seeking details of inquiries and FIRs if registered against him till July 13.

He also requested the judge to pass direction to the quarters concerned to transport him to courts in a car rather than an armoured vehicle.

He prayed the court to direct the relevant authorities to provide him with details of inquiries and FIRs, and restrain the institutions from arresting him.

Elahi contended that he along with PTI’s leadership had been subjected to political victimisation since the provincial caretaker government came to power.

He maintained that he had been discharged from several cases registered with the anti-corruption and granted bails in others, but was still arrested in another case as soon as he was released on bail.

The PTI president noted that he was not provided the details when he contacted the departments concerned to seek information about the FIRs if registered anywhere against him or inquiries if pending with any department.

Various corruption cases have been registered against the former Punjab chief minister, who is accused of receiving kickbacks for awarding several government development projects during his tenure.

Elahi, who is also a close relative of PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, joined the PTI on March 7. He is among the few PTI leaders who have not parted ways with party chief Imran Khan in the wake of the massive government crackdown that started in the wake of May 9 incidents.
