KARACHI:

In the Zamanabad area of Landhi, panic ensued when miscreants fired indiscriminately while attempting to enter a family park, causing a stampede among park visitors, particularly women and children.

The incident was captured on CCTV, providing clear images of the shooters. The trouble started when these individuals tried to enter the park during the recent Eidul Azha holiday, but park management prevented them.

This led to a disturbance and a scuffle with the administration, during which the miscreants resorted to gunfire.

The firing created a sense of fear in the area, prompting women and children to flee in panic. Upon receiving the information, SHO Landhi Inspector Rizwan Patel and his police team swiftly arrived at the scene, but the miscreants managed to escape while continuing to fire.

They also caused damage to chairs in nearby roadside restautant and motorcycles parked outside the park. The shooters' faces were visible in the CCTV footage.

When contacted, SHO Landhi explained that he had responded promptly to the incident, although the
park administration had submitted no report. He admitted being unfamiliar with the area's residents but mentioned that the miscreants responsible for the gunfire were known to be from Landhi Baloch Para.

However, without an official complaint, filing a case posed challenges for the police in court. Local shopkeepers expressed their concerns, highlighting that miscreants frequently force themselves into the park, harass women, and steal from shops without making payments.

They lamented the police's reluctance to take legal action against these troublemakers, leaving them powerless. The shopkeepers appealed to higher authorities to assign capable police officers who could effectively control these individuals in the area.
