GUJRANWALA:

Two women and two children died when the roofs and walls of their houses collapsed in heavy rain that pummelled Gujranwala, rescuers said late on Monday.

They said that in one incident in Sadhoki area, 50-year-old Hanifan Bibi, wife of Waris Masih, and her children 20-year-old Adil and 18-year-old Laiba, died when the roof of their house caved in during heavy torrential rain.

Masih and the couple’s another son sustained injuries, according to the rescue officials. They added that bodies and the injured were shifted to a local hospital.

In another incident in Nawan Pind area, 35-year-old Azra Bibi died when the wall of her house collapsed. A Rescue 1122 team recovered the body of the woman from under the debris and shifted it to the hospital.
