SBCA DG faces court’s ire

Sindh High Court on Monday held top boss of building regulatory body responsible for illegal constructions.

An SHC bench ordered Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) director general to appear before the court regarding illegal constructions in the Central district.

In its written order regarding the illegal construction in Central district the court raised questions on the performance of SBCA and questioned, why SBCA failing to stop illegal constructions. "Why not make DG SBCA responsible for illegal constructions?" The order read.

According to the written order, the court remarked that if the illegal constructions are not removed, SBCA DG will be responsible for the violation. The report submitted by SBCA stated that a committee was formed to determine the persons responsible for not stopping the illegal constructions. The court has ordered that if the responsible parties are not determined before the next hearing, all the members of the committee should appear in court.
