Akshay Kumar has exciting news for fans of the comedy franchise Housefull. The actor announced the fifth instalment, aptly titled Housefull 5, promising "five times the madness." Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is set to hit theatres during Diwali next year. While the return of Riteish Deshmukh has been confirmed, the remaining cast members are yet to be unveiled.
On Friday, Kumar took to Instagram to share a poster announcing Housefull 5. "Get ready for FIVE times the madness! Bringing to y'all Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 5. See you in cinemas on Diwali 2024!” he captioned the post.
The comment section was flooded with anticpation for the upcoming film. Fans also inquired about the progress of Hera Pheri 3. "What about Hera Pheri 3?" Another fan wrote, "Bhai Hera Pheri 3 lao (Brother, bring Hera Pheri 3)." A fan hailed him as the "comedy king." There were even suggestions from fans, with one requesting the inclusion of Kartik Aaryan in the film.
Kumar and Deshmukh have been consistent pillars of the Housefull series. The first and second parts were directed by Sajid Khan, the third by Sajid-Farhad, and the fourth solely by Farhad Samji. The star-studded cast of Housefull (2010) included Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, Jiah Khan, Boman Irani, and Chunky Pandey. Housefull 2 (2012) introduced John Abraham to the franchise alongside Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, and the late Rishi Kapoor.
Housefull 3 (2016) saw the addition of Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline, Nargis Fakhri, and Lisa Haydon. The most recent instalment, Housefull 4 (2019), featured an almost entirely new cast, including Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde, and Kriti Kharbanda.
On the work front, Kumar was last seen in the comedy film Selfiee, which failed to impact the box office. He is set to star in OMG-Oh my God 2 and an upcoming action thriller titled Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, alongside Tiger Shroff and Sonakshi Sinha.
