RAWALPINDI:

The police in the Rawalpindi district have completed security arrangements for the area falling under its jurisdiction including the hill station of Murree which sees high footfall of local tourists during holidays such as Eid.

More than 2,500 police personnel have been deployed across the district. Of these, 700 will perform duties in Murree to ensure the security and convenience of tourists. Around 300 traffic police personnel will on duty to ensure smooth flow of traffic in and around Murree.

The plan includes providing ‘foolproof’ security to 684 mosques, 98 open places and 65 imambargahs where Eid prayers will take place.

Rawalpindi city police chief Khalid Hamdani said that special units including the Elite Force, Dolphin Force, Muhafiz Squad and a contingent of policewoman will be part of the security detail. The convenience and safety of tourists in Murree is a priority, he added.

The police have also set up 37 special pickets to stop one-wheeling and other daredevilry on motorcycles on the narrow roads of Murree.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police also carried out a flag march. Senior officers including police officers, SHOs, traffic police personnel, special units and district police took part in the march that started from Police Lines Headquarters.
