Eid security plan finalised
Police have announced a robust security plan for the occasion of Eidul Azha.
According to police spokesperson, a total of 16,784 police personnel will be deployed across the city to ensure the safety and security of citizens during the festive period. Around 6,241 security personnel will be deployed in the East zone, 6,444 in the West zone, and 4,099 in the South zone.
The strategic deployment aims to cover all areas effectively and maintain a visible police presence throughout Karachi. As part of the security plan, special police pickets will be set up at 730 sensitive locations across the city.
Moreover, a total of 523 designated points will be established for the collection of hides of sacrificial animals, with 251 in the East zone, 139 in the West zone, and 18 in the South zone.
In accordance with the security plan, 115 hide collection points have been identified as sensitive, warranting enhanced vigilance and attention from the authorities. There is a history of rival political and religious groups snatching hides that are sold to tanneries to generate funds.
Furthermore, the security plan accounts for the organisation of Eid prayer gatherings at 3,318 Mosques and Imam Bargahs, with an additional 426 designated prayer areas for congregational prayers. Collective sacrifices will be performed at 317 designated places.
