PCM key to improving community healthcare: DHO

UNICEF and NCHD collaborate to hold primary care training event

HARIPUR:

District Health Officer Dr Syed Nasser Shah has emphasised the significance of granting primary care management committees (PCMs) the utmost importance at the grass root level to provide the best possible healthcare facilities to the community.

He expressed these views while addressing a training session organised by UNICEF in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD). He said inclusion and the role of all classes were essential to bring about a positive change in the social dynamics and attitudes. He also offered that District Health Office is ready to cooperate with the PCMs in every way possible while remaining under their jurisdiction.

Public representatives, medical officers from the health department, representatives from the local government, and other members of the PCMs participated in this session, whereas UNICEF's focal person for PCMs Shazia Jadoon, Health Workers Programme Coordinator Dr Imran, Dr Asad, and others provided training on the objectives and purposes of establishing primary care management committees, the process and how it would impact the health of both the mother and her child.
