BHAKKAR:

In preparation for the flood season, proactive safety measures have been implemented at the Bhakkar point along the Indus River.

Extensive flood safety preparations have been finalised across the three tehsils of Bhakkar, Darya Khan, and Kaloor Kot, covering a total distance of 110 kilometres.

To address the potential flood threat, all relevant institutions have been placed on high alert to ensure an effective response to any emergency situation. The irrigation department has cancelled leaves for all employees, and the district administration has issued flood warnings while deploying heavy machinery to strategic locations.

The primary objective is to protect the dam from a super flood during the flood season, minimizing the risk to human life.

Commissioner Sargodha, Mohammad Ajmal Bhatti, conducted a visit to Bhakkar to assess the flood safety arrangements. During the inspection, he examined the Bhakkar Super Dam along the Indus River.

Accompanying him were Deputy Commissioner Dr. Noor Mohammad Awan, District Police Officer Mohammad Naveed Qureshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Mirza Waleed Baig, and Assistant Commissioner Bhakkar Mohammad Shafiq Chandia. Representatives from the Irrigation Department and other relevant departments were also present.
