Three policemen injured in assault during snap checking

SSP said the cops although came under attack but they bravely fired back and rounded up one of the assailants

Three policemen sustained gunshot injuries as some suspected outlaws opened fire on the police to escape from a snap checking spot in Odero Lal area of Matiari district on Saturday. The police also shot and injured one of the three suspects while two of them managed to escape.

The SSP Matiari Muhammad Kaleem Malik told the media that the police team was conducting routine checking when they came under the attack in the jurisdiction of Odero Lal police station. According to him, the police signalled three suspects riding on a motorbike to stop but they started to shoot the cops.

The injured police constables have been identified as Tariq Sahuwal, Gul Hassan Jahejo and Gulbahar Khaskheli. They were shifted to the civil hospital. The doctors told the media that the injured cops are stable. The SSP said the cops although came under attack but they bravely fired back and rounded up one of the assailants. The suspects escaped on foot in the agricultural fields leaving the motorbike behind.

He told that the police are combing the area and expressed hope that the attackers would be caught before long. He believed that the attackers were robbers. The incident's FIR has not been lodged so far.
