One person died and six other people were badly burnt as the compressor of the AC exploded and roof collapsed in Samundari Road area.

The injured were shifted to the hospital while police handed over the body of the deceased to the family members after legal procedures.

Chaudhry Mohammad Amin had built a scrap warehouse in Joya Chowk Borewala House, Maqbool Road, in the area of Police Station Batala Colony.

He had been sitting in the office with his employees. Meanwhile, gas from the AC’s compressor started leaking.

Not knowing about the leaking of the gas, Chaudhry Mohammad Amin lit a cigarette and as soon as he lit it, there was a loud explosion and the roof of the office fell down and fire broke out.

Mohammad Hanif, 55, a resident of Vehari, was badly burned and died on the spot while Chaudhry Amin, Iftikhar, Irshad Yasir, Rana Kharadiya, Shahzaib and Hasnain were injured.

Irshad Yasir, Rana Kharadia and Shahzaib sustained injuries due to the falling of debris while Amin and Hasnain sustained burn injuries. Rescue 1122 teams shifted them to the Allied Hospital.

As soon as the information was received, the DSP of Batala Colony, Malik Tariq, the SHO, Junaid Nazir Gujjar, the SHO of D Type Colony, Mazhar Irfan, along with other policemen reached the spot.

Meanwhile, a middle-aged man died after being electrocuted by an electric wire installed around the corn crop field. The police registered a case against the landlord and started searching for him.

In the case filed by ASI Naseem, it was stated that Zulfiqar Ali, a resident of Chak No. 591/GB, had installed an electric wire around his corn field to protect it from animals and let the current flow through it.

During this time, 58-year-old Ameer Ali Pathan, a resident of 591/GB, who had been living in different camps in the village for the last 25 years, died due to electrocution.

The police handed over the body of the deceased to his family and registered a case against the landlord under Section 322 of the PPC.

In a yet separate incident, a case had been registered against 10 suspects who allegedly defrauded some people by building a fake cement factory and supplying cement to the people.

Atif Shehzad, a resident of 7/GB, filed a case which stated that he had placed an order with Adnan for 100 sacks of cement to construct a house and paid an advance of Rs25,000.

The complainant said that Adnan loaded 30 sacks of cement on a vehicle.

During the loading, a sack got torn, and material inside it started falling, which turned out to be limestone instead of cement.

The complainant said that he got surprised and asked what was going on.

Atif Shehzad said that Munshi Nawaz and driver Shehbaz told him that their owners had set up a factory in 7/GB and “they have been making limestone for a long time by adding fake cement plaster”.
