Suspects stole golden ornaments from women who raised a hue and cry

As many as 11 suspects burgled two houses and killed a 55-year-old man over resisiting the bid within the area of Thikriwala police station.

A police spokesman said on Sunday that the 11 suspects reportedly looted Rs50,000 in cash and other valuable items from the house of Ali Waqas Gujjar in Chak No.65-JB and broke into another nearby house late at night.

The suspects stole golden ornaments from women who raised a hue and cry, prompting 55-year-old Hajji Shabbir Ramzan to resist the suspects. They shot and seriously injured him. Shabbir was rushed to Allied Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s relatives and local residents, led by Zaighum Patwari, Haseeb Anwar and others, staged a protest by putting the victim’s body on the road near Sadhar Bypass Chowk, causing traffic congestion. SHO Thikriwala police station Hasan Siddique Cheema and his team rushed to the scene and dispersed the protestors after assuring them that they would be provided justice.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Usman Akram Gondal took notice of the incident and directed SP Iqbal Town to submit a detailed report and ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects.
