SHC clubs petitions challenging Wahab as mayor

The Sindh High Court has issued order to club a petition challenging the notification of Murtaza Wahab's appointment as mayor of Karachi with another petition filed by Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. A bench comprising of Justice Yousuf Ali Saeed and Justice Muhammad Abdul Rehman conducted a hearing on the matter, seeking responses from the concerned parties.
During the proceedings, the court noted that a similar application by Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Naeemur Rehman was already pending. Tariq Mansoor Advocate, the lawyer representing the petitioner, informed the court that he and his client are citizens of Karachi.
The instant petition raised several new points, including objections to the June 16 notification appointing Murtaza Wahab as mayor and Salman Abdullah Murad as deputy mayor. The petitioner also challenged an amendment made in the Sindh Local Government Act passed on May 12.
The petitioner alleged that this amendment was malicious and violated the constitution. A hearing has been scheduled for June 22, and the court has instructed all parties involved to provide their replies before the hearing date.
