RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi police said on Monday that a suspected robber who was killed in an alleged encounter was the same man who shot a judge dead during a robbery last month.

The suspect, Noor Agha, was killed in the jurisdiction of Rawat police station.

A police spokesperson said that five armed suspects opened fire at a police party, with one of them killed in retaliatory fire. The body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), where the robber was identified as Noor Agha.

Police said that Agha was part of the same gang that had shot dead Sardar Amjad Ishaq, a district and sessions judge at an accountability court in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, at his Rawalpindi residence Rawalpindi on May 30.
