Google Domains is a fantastic platform to jumpstart building websites for businesses but now the company is leaving the business and selling it to Squarespace.

According to Squarespace's announcement, 10 million domains will be transferred from Google as the transactions close in the third quarter of 2023.

Under the agreement signed, Squarespace will retain the customer pricing for at least 12 months after purchasing and transferring. The company says it will use Google’s infrastructure to ensure a "seamless transfer of domains".

Squarespace will soon become the exclusive partner for users seeking to purchase website domains, along with Google Workspace domains.

Current customers can, however, continue using Google billing support but over time will have to switch to the Squarespace billing system.
